What is CPT code 93298?

CPT code 93298 refers to the "interrogation device evaluation(s), (remote) up to 30 days, subcutaneous cardiac rhythm monitor system, including the analysis of recorded heart rhythm data, its analysis, its review, and report(s) by a qualified healthcare professional".

It covers the remote interrogation of an implantable cardiac device such as a pacemaker or defibrillator with interpretation and report by a physician or qualified health care professional. Furthermore, it also reflects the analysis of programmed parameters, device function, battery status, etc.

Do note that as of January 1, 2024, CPT code now encompasses both the professional and technical components when the service performed is by a single entity.

If the technical service, including but not limited to technical support, technician review, data acquisition, etc., is performed by other qualified health care professionals, it must be appended with a modifier.
