Clinical information

  • A patient is considered to have hip pain when they feel discomfort or pain in or around the hip joint or possibly the groin or thigh.
  • It's also possible for hip pain to radiate to other areas because the hip flexors connect to areas like the thigh and pelvis.
  • Common causes of hip pain include injuries and conditions like muscle injury, bursitis, tendonitis/inflamed tendons, labral tears, hip impingement, arthritis, osteoarthritis, and hip fractures. If a patient develops degenerative arthritis, they have a high risk of suffering hip pain.
  • Aside from pain, if there's redness, warmth, swelling, tenderness, exposed bone/muscle, bleeding, or a popping noise heard when you move, it's best that you head directly to the hospital or a medical practitioner.
  • To diagnose hip pain, practitioners will ask the patient questions about their symptoms, observe the joint while moving, and have them undergo a blood test, urine test, joint fluid test, and imaging tests like X-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds, and MRI scans.
  • Treatments vary depending on the cause. On the one hand, some can be healed with rest and medication, while others may need surgery and physical therapy.

  • Bilateral hip joint pain
  • Hip pain
  • Femoral acetabular impingement of bilateral hip joints
