Z02.89 diagnosis code: Encounter for other administrative examinations
The ICD-10 Z02.89 diagnosis code designates encounter for other administrative examinations.
This code will be used on patients who attend appointments to evaluate people for administrative or regulatory purposes. They're not necessarily meant to diagnose people with medical conditions.
An example of an administrative examination is getting a medical evaluation to get a driver's license. Some medical problems may affect a person's ability to drive properly and safely.
This code was replaced with Z02.84 - Encounter for child welfare exam, but it is now a valid code again and covers the following, as other administrative examinations encounters:
- Encounter for examination for admission to prison
- Encounter for examination for admission to summer camp
- Encounter for immigration examination
- Encounter for naturalization examination
- Encounter for premarital examination
Please note that Z02.89 as primary diagnosis isn't valid because it simply specifies that the patient attended an encounter for a particular administrative examination.
