Overview
When Julie Bouchie launched Adventures in Counseling, LLC, she knew the clinical work was only part of the challenge. The real test was setting up systems that would not strain her budget or slow her down. The systems, the software, the spreadsheet sprawl, the costs that creep upward as a practice grows, that was where the worry sat.Meet Julie Bouchie
Julie Bouchie is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern based in the United States and the owner of Adventures in Counseling, LLC. After years inside a group practice, she took the leap and opened her own private practice.
She had a clear picture of the clinical work. She had a less clear picture of how much the admin would cost her, in money and in time.
### “I knew starting my own private practice would have a lot of financial risks. I would have to build my caseload while carrying an expensive office lease.”
Software felt like one of the bigger unknowns. The platforms she looked at were expensive, and most of them charged extra for the features she actually needed. The first change was the budget.
Julie chose Carepatron because the math worked from day one.
### “Carepatron has the ability to do so many amazing features, but at an affordable price. I am saving so much money per year from switching.”
Those savings went straight into marketing, building the caseload she needed. The bigger change was the confidence.
The first weeks of a private practice are a stack of small decisions, and most of them are about paperwork.
### “One of the most stressful parts of starting a private practice is the paperwork involved in onboarding clients. Carepatron provided templates that I was able to use to create my intake and onboarding paperwork with ease.”
Instead of building everything from scratch, Julie sent forms for electronic signatures and kept client profiles organized in one place. Appointment reminders went out on their own, which meant she stopped texting clients individually the day before sessions.
When questions came up, customer support answered.
### “The customer service is also amazing, and I always get quick responses to my questions.”
That mattered more than she expected. As a new practice owner, the difference between a quick answer and silence is the difference between a confident afternoon and a stuck one.
### “I also feel more confident as a practice owner because I know I’m using a reliable and well-organized system for my practice.”
Julie isn’t measuring the first year of her practice in clinical hours alone. She’s measuring it in the quiet that comes from knowing the foundations are solid. That the systems are working in the background while she focuses on her clients.
