What is a Tooth Eruption Chart?

A is a visual representation of the tooth development process. Dentists and orthodontists can use this resource for multiple purposes. However, its primary goal is to provide an average timeline from the first eruption of a child’s tooth until the final permanent tooth eruption.

You can expect the following with our version of a tooth eruption chart:

  • A diagram of a human’s teeth - baby teeth and permanent teeth - with each tooth labeled accordingly
  • Expected number of months baby teeth erupt and shed
  • Expected number of months permanent teeth erupt
  • A dedicated space at the bottom for any notes, findings, or observations you may have

It’s important to note that your patient’s teeth may not follow the timeline provided. If that’s the case, you should monitor it and anticipate any issues so you may address them immediately.

Benefits

Establish Baselines for Comparison

Dentists and orthodontists can use the tooth eruption chart template as a baseline for comparison since it contains a timeline or the expected number of months until a particular tooth erupts or sheds.

Early Detection

Should the patient’s teeth grow ahead or fall behind the expected schedule to the point that it may affect the surrounding teeth, with this chart, dentists and orthodontists can immediately detect and plan for any issues.

Personalized Treatment Plans

Once the dentist or orthodontist sees or anticipates the issues, they can formulate a personalized treatment plan that they can also write down on the tooth eruption chart.

Improves Monitoring Process

The free tooth eruption chart isn’t a single-use document. So, dentists and orthodontists can use multiple copies to monitor the eruption or growth of teeth and check if the solution is working and how to adapt if the treatment had to be done as other permanent teeth erupted and grew.
