Clinical information
F06.8 can have conditions like epileptic psychosis NOS, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders due to a known physiological condition, organic dissociative disorder, and organic emotional labile asthenic disorder.
Symptoms will vary depending on the condition. Here's a list of the possible signs and symptoms per condition.
- Epileptic psychosis NOS: Delusions, bizarre thoughts/behavior, insomnia, depressive/manic psychosis, unresponsiveness, and automatic movements. One important thing to note here is even within this condition, there are different types of psychosis and symptoms.
- Obsessive-compulsive and related disorder due to a known physiological condition: Fear of harming yourself or others deliberately or by mistake, contamination, need for orderliness, ordering, arranging, repeating words in their head, avoiding places/situations that could trigger obsessive thoughts, etc.
- Organic dissociative disorder: Feeling disconnected/uncertain about yourself, forgetting important things about yourself, having multiple identities, and feeling little to no physical pain.
- Organic emotional labile asthenic disorder: Rapidly changing feelings, violent mood swings, exhaustion after exerting even the slightest effort, dizziness, pain, and fatigue.
Though the causes of some of these conditions are inconclusive, some may be induced by medication the patient is taking. Diagnosis will require a physical examination, an interview, and a copy of one's medical history.
Treatment, on the other hand, is usually either therapy or medication, in addition to receiving support from the family and an expert physician.
